Cedar Rapids Convention Center/Arena and Parking Ramp/Sky Bridge (1367 tons):

Addition to US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA with the City of Cedar Rapids. Project consisted of large shop fabricated trusses for roof and ballroom areas. Sky Bridge over 1st Avenue, a major thoroughfare in downtown Cedar Rapids, was over 100 linear feet built in two pieces for field assembly. Project included a 3 story monumental stair and multiple additional stairs with rails. Renovation of the arena area in the US Cellular Center involved stadium rails and addition of mechanical floor framing.

Plaza Towers (905 tons):

15 story building with penthouse in Iowa City, IA. Project is a mixed use building made of 6 floors of hotel and grocery store, with remaining floors of residential. All steel structure with floor deck, multiple stair towers with rails and checker plate treads. General contractor was McComas-Lacina Construction.

Oaknoll Retirement Expansion (731 tons):

6 story retirement facility expansion in Iowa City, IA with McComas-Lacina Construction. Project included structural steel fabrication, skywalk with hanging canopy, stairs, rails, and misc. steel items. Project used large floor tubes to support precast. All structural steel was SP-6 blasted by TSF.

Red Star Yeast Tyger 5 Plant (658 tons):

Multiple story steel framed industrial building in Cedar Rapids, IA with Carl A. Nelson & Company. Project included structural steel, grating platforms, stairs, rails, and ladders.

Centennial High School (561 tons):

2 story high school with gymnasium in Ankeny, IA with CSI Construction. Project included structural framing, stairs, rails, and gymnasium joists. Coordination was required for piping through joist in gymnasium.

Trinity Hospital Expansion (524 tons):

3 story hospital expansion in Rock Island, IL with Industrial Steel Erectors. Project included structural steel fabrication and misc. steel items. This was the first project for TSF using proprietary SidePlate moment connections. Using the SidePlate system included coordination of both shop and field visit by SidePlate systems, as well as special shop testing.

4 Story hotel and attached culinary center in Cedar Rapids, IA with Miron Construction. Steel framed structure with stair towers and rails.

Finley Hospital (436 tons):

4 Story hospital addition in Dubuque, IA with Conlon Construction. Project included structural steel, stairs towers, glass rail framing, and galvanized guardrails with grating infill. Project required TSF to perform stair design.

New Covenant Bible Church (371 tons):

2 story office and education center, as well as 1100 seat worship center in Robins, IA with Rinderknecht Associates. Project included large shop fabricated tube section trusses to clear span the worship center. Remaining portion of building was conventional structural framing for the 2 story office and education center, as well as stairs and rails for balcony areas.

UW Lacrosse New Student Center (344 tons):

A 3 story 204,000 sqft concrete structure for a new student center in La Crosse, WI with C.D. Smith Construction. Project includes multiple flights of double wide monumental stairs and custom designed rails. TSF is also providing structural steel framing for roof and canopies.

New multi-level structure for GPC new dryer number 4 in Muscatine, IA with Pro-Fab. Project included structural steel framing, multiple stair towers with rails, and special coating of Macropoxy 646.

Manchester Hospital Expansion (300 tons):

3 story hospital expansion in Manchester, IA with Peters Construction Corp. Project included connection and stair engineering, as well as cable guardrail. Project involved the fabrication of structural steel, stairs, standard steel rails, stainless rails, rail frames for glass infill panels, Dean Lally fireproofed columns, aluminum grating, and fabricator designed low tension vehicle barrier.

University of Iowa Children’s Hospital Bid Package 13 and 20 (285 tons):

13 story concrete structure for the new University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, IA with Knutson Construction. TSF fabricated the steel roof framing and pedestrian bridges. Project also included fabrication of large canopies with large rolled tube sections. TSF is responsible for connection design and coordination with other bid packages.

Cedar Rapids City Service Center (270 tons):

Cedar Rapids, IA project comprised of 254,000 sqft warehouse with attached 2 story office building made with joist, joist girders, decking, structural framing, and precast walls. Project incorporated 62,000 sqft of mezzanine framing in the warehouse. Office building included a special stair design involving precast treads with large stringers and stainless steel rails with grating infill panels. General contractor was Miron Construction.

University of Iowa West Campus Residence Hall (196 tons):

New concrete 10 story residence hall with penthouse for the University of Iowa with Miron Construction. Project included steel framing for 2 story lower level lobby and dining area, as well as penthouse framing. Project also included multiple full height stair towers with rails, and one monumental stair for lobby. TSF was responsible for stair design.

Diamond V Mills (150 tons):

Plant expansion in Cedar Rapids, IA with Weitz Construction. Project included new structural steel, stairs, spiral stairs, rails, ladders, and grating. The project required coordination between equipment supplier and steel from other portions of the project, including coordination for connections and painting, and sizing of openings and supports. TSF provided 3D model from SDS 2 for use by trades to assist with process.

General Mills (117 tons):

4 platforms for equipment supports in General Mills existing plant in Cedar Rapids, IA with Blahnik Construction. Project included a large stainless steel tube frame platform, included built up tubes. Mild steel received special coatings, including STEELIT finish for use in the plant. Project also included grating and ALGRIP floor system.
